Recap
Although it’s one of the furthest destinations on the FOBA tournament trail, Lake Gaston in the spring is one of the most highly anticipated tournaments of the year. The lake did not disappoint and it took 25 lbs. 5 oz. over 2 days for Tim Roberts to claim victory, just 7 oz. ahead of Logan Summers.
Roberts was helped by a 6 lb. lunker on Day 1 and his 25 lbs. 5 oz. was the largest tournament bag of the year. Joe Pautler finished in 3rd with 23 lbs. even. Mark Lim also found a 6 lb. largemouth on Day 1, besting his own mark of 5 lb. 13 oz. set in the previous tournament at Lake Anna. Roberts’ and Lim’s lunkers stood as the largest of the year and earned them a share of the Lunker of the Year award.
Day 1 was also fruitful for Zack Showman as he brought in a 5 fish limit for 13 lbs. 4 oz. including a 5 lb. 9 oz. largemouth that gave him lunker of the tournament as well as a tie for Lunker of the Year. Showman never let off the gas on Day 2, adding 10 lbs. 11 oz. for a total of 23 lbs. 15 oz. and besting 2nd place co-angler Tim Walko by over 6 lbs. and 3rd place Lowell Clemens by over 10 lbs.!
